SF0056-Kratom Product Regulation

***LAC is the Legislative Action Committee of the RWSC (Republican Women of Sheridan County).  Below is the main message showing our position and reasons why we support or oppose a bill. 

 We oppose SF0056 Kratom product regulation, for the following reasons:

· Kratom products have not been approved by the FDA.

· Kratom contains alkaloids that can produce effects similar to opioids, raising concerns about potential addiction.

· Kratom needs to be made ILLEGAL not regulated. Regulation just opens the door down the road. Therefore, we support HB0185, Kratom prohibition.

· Mayo Clinic describes Kratom as unsafe and ineffective, citing potential risks including addiction, severe health effects and overdose. 

· Estimates suggest an annual cost of approximately $1 million for the Department of Health and Law Enforcement. This will increase the tax burden of Wyoming citizens and endanger Wyoming citizens of all ages.
