SF0014-Literacy Position for K-3 Reading Program

***LAC is the Legislative Action Committee of the RWSC (Republican Women of Sheridan County).  Below is the main message showing our position and reasons why we support or oppose a bill.   

We oppose SF0014, Literacy position for K-3 reading program, for the following reasons:

· This bill creates a new Wyoming Department of Education employee position with a salary of $120,000 per year (for 2 years). 

· Wyoming already employs one administrator for every two teachers. This bill will expand an already bloated Wyoming Department of Education.

· Given all of the education and training teachers receive, there is no reason that any K-3 classroom teacher would not be able to handle all of the literacy issues in her/his classroom.
