HB0118-Residential Property Tax Replacement

***LAC is the Legislative Action Committee of the RWSC (Republican Women of Sheridan County).  Below is the main message showing our position and reasons why we support or oppose a bill.   

We support HB0118, Residential property tax replacement for the following reasons:

· This bill replaces residential property tax with a 2% increase in state sales tax.

· This puts the people in control of their finances. In a lean year, they can choose to make fewer large purchases, if necessary.

· People will own their home without risk of a government lien.

· This solves the problem of the current multiple exemptions for just a few selected groups. Additionally, these exemptions require action each year, which homeowners must remember to make or lose out. 

· The bill aligns with the Republican Party Platform which states that every citizen is equally protected by the law.
