HB0056-Carbon Capture Mandate-Repeal

***LAC is the Legislative Action Committee of the RWSC (Republican Women of Sheridan County).  Below is the main message showing our position and reasons why we support or oppose a bill.   

We support HB0056 Carbon Capture Mandate-Repeal, for the following reasons:

• This bill repeals in its entirety Wyoming Statutes Chapter 18, “Reliable and Dispatchable Low-Carbon Standards.”

· This ensures Wyomingites will receive the electricity they need and when they need it at a cost not vastly bloated from electrical utilities having to meet onerous, “low-carbon” conditions, which required carbon capture at the point of electricity generation.

· All Wyomingites, but especially those on low or on fixed incomes, will now be spared from having to pay what was essentially a tax, and thus may no longer have to choose between heating their homes, or purchasing food, medicine or other life necessities.

· This will also help ensure Wyomingites are not forced to comply with current or future carbon reduction or storage/sequestration requirements, which could potentially include restrictions or limitations on electrical usage, or even use of eminent domain. 

· This bill follows the Wyoming Republican Platform for life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, private property, economic freedom, and freedom from excessive taxes.
