***LAC is the Legislative Action Committee of the RWSC (Republican Women of Sheridan County). Below is the main message showing our position and reasons why we support or oppose a bill.
We support HB0052 Elections-hand counting for recounts for the following reasons:
• HB0052 requires hand counting of paper ballots by citizen counting boards for recounts in close races and allows candidates to request a hand-count recount by affidavit as specified.
• Representative Marlene Brady is bringing two critical amendments — HB0052H3001 and HB0052H3002 — that make HB0052 viable. We support HB0052 if either one of Marlene’s amendments passes.
• Supporting HB0052 with either of the Brady amendments upholds the Wyoming Republican Platform’s commitment to secure, transparent, and trustworthy elections — real paper ballots that citizens can hand-count in time for our August primaries.
