We support HB0023, Participation in 6-12 activities, for the following reasons:
· This bill ensures that school districts continue to allow children in grades 6 through 12, who are not enrolled in public school, to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the school district.
· Students who are not enrolled in public school, such as homeschool students, currently participate in extracurricular activities in their school district.
· We must ensure continued access for these students to participate in sports, band and other extracurricular activities that are important to their development.
· This bill aligns with the Wyoming Republican Party resolutions that support school choice and provide that parents have the right to make the best educational decisions for their children.
Thank you!
